Great Falls, Montana has numerous sights to see for visitors. Newcomers to the community will also find much to learn and do among these offerings. The community, despite being located in a state more well-known for its vast tracts of wild lands, is also very notable for having many museums, famous residents and former residents and for being a seat of technology development at the local air force base. Classic and modern art are both on display in this community.
The Charles M. Russell Museum pays tribute to one of the area’s most famous residents. Russell was notable for his depictions of life in the west and for his expansive landscapes. Visitors to this museum can see the state of Montana and other western environs as it existed in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries through the eyes of this painter. The museum includes several events for adults and children. More modern art can be viewed at the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art. Housed in an old school building, the museum allows visitors to view some of the most modern of art from both local and international artists. The building is registered as a national historical landmark.
For younger visitors, the Children’s Museum of Montana offers something a bit more exciting to youthful minds. The museum has many interactive exhibits which invite children to learn by physically touching different subjects of interest. Exhibits allow children to gain a better understanding of the natural world and to enjoy themselves at the same time. Some of the regularly-recurring offerings include the Music Monday events and the Friday Storytime event. The museum hosts a summer exploration camp for children, as well. Among activities for young people in Great Falls, this is one of the most popular. |
