Duquesne University Tamburitzans Come To Great Falls
The world famous multicultural song and dance company, the Duquesne University Tamburitzans, are coming to Great Falls. The longest-running song and dance company in the United States will be at the Mansfield Theater with a performance sponsored by the Great Falls Community Concert Association on Tuesday, May 10th at 7:30pm. Tickets for the event are $30 per person.

The Duquesne University Tamburitzans are based out of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The company is made up of students at the school who receive scholarships for their participation in the group and its related activities. The Tamburitzans' have a mission of providing students with an education first, while exposing them to the traditions and cultures of other areas of the world, Eastern Europe in particular. Dr. A. Lester Pierce created the Tamburitzans in 1937 when he brought the Slavonic Tamburitza Orchestra he started at St. Edward's University in Austin. Pierce brought his orchestra to Duquesne University. Dr. Pierce is also responsible for starting the scholarship program that has since become associated with the Tamburitzans.

The Duquesne University Tamburitzans have recorded several albums, making fan around the world. The company has toured extensively around the world, spreading Eastern European culture, music and dance to a global audience. The group has received numerous honors and awards and performed at distinguished events, including formal events with audiences including political dignitaries and heads of state. The Tamburitzans are one of many events the Great Falls Community Concert Association brings to Great Falls throughout the year.
