Situated in Cascade County, the city of Great Falls, MT is one of the largest in the state of Montana. This city of around 50,000 residents has a long history of being a center of commerce. Though the city’s explosive growth has slowed a bit since the 1980’s, it remains one of the most popular places to visit for travelers through the state and one of the most popular places to live within the state itself. The city takes its name from the waterfalls along the Missouri River, which forced Luis and Clark to take an over month-long detour around this area.

The city of Great Falls was established at the end of the 19^th Century. It is notable for its many hydroelectric sources of electricity, the first of which was established in 1889. The city was conceived as being a center of business and decidedly different than the rough-and-tumble towns that characterized the frontier days of the American West. Today, the city is home to a military base and many of the state’s most well-known businesses. The city has a great deal on tap for visitors and residents alike.

The Mansfield Theater is one of the centers of culture in the city. This establishment boasts a history that goes back to the dark days of the Depression of the 1930s. The construction of the theater was funded under the Works Progress Administration. The legacy of that program, in this case, is a nearly 2,000 seat auditorium that has the best acoustics in the state. For more business-oriented gatherings, the Mansfield Conventions Center is oftentimes chosen. Located in the downtown area, this establishment consists of over 15,000 square feet of space. The city is home to many more venues and the community continues to grow.
